Samin’s Research Report is a side quest mission in Monster Hunter Wilds (MHWI). It is one of the multiple optional side missions within Samin’s quest-line. This specific one requires us to find a Dapperwing.

How to Start Samin’s Research Report

This side quest becomes available after you complete Dareel’s Research Report. Complete Chapter 1-4 A Hunter’s Pride to unlock Dareel’s mission and capture the Tracktail Lizard. Once you complete the mission for Dareel, Samin’s side quests will unlock. Samin is at the Windward Base Camp. You will find him opposite Dareel’s location.

Interact with Samin and start the side quest that requires you to find and capture a Dapperwing. After you start the quest, talk to Samin once again and he will give you some clues about your target.

How to Complete Samin’s Research Report

Dapperwings are bird-like creatures native to the Scarlet Forest. Their characteristics are colored plumage and long tails. They mostly sit in trees, so that’s where you need to look for them.

How to Find the Dapperwing In Monster Hunter Wilds (MHWI)

Spotting a Dapperwing might be tricky because of its camouflage. Their color changes based on the conditions. During the Fallow, the feathers turn green. When the conditions are Plenty, the plumage is multi-colored. It is easier to find them during the day on Plenty conditions.

They can be found throughout the Scarlet Forest, including both Area 2 and Area 13. Go north from the camp and keep your eyes peeled for a broken tree trunk in the water. Notice the tree ahead. That’s where you should find your target. The Dapperwing flies around the tree and sits on its branches.

How to Capture the Dapperwing

Once you’ve spotted the Dapperwing, prepare to capture it. Select the Capture Net and aim at the creature. It might take you a couple of tries until you get it. The good news is that the Dapperwing is not easily startled and won’t fly away if you don’t capture it on the first try.
