Samin’s Research Report (Cont) is a side quest in Monster Hunter Wilds (MHWI). Let’s see what you must do to capture the Rime Beetle!
How to Start Samin’s Research Report (Cont)
To unlock Dareel and Samin’s side quests you must complete Chapter 1-4 A Hunter’s Pride first. This quest becomes available after you complete several other side quests:
- Dareel’s Research Report. Capture a Tracktail Lizard.
- Samin’s Research Report. Capture a Dapperwing.
- Dareel’s Research Report (Cont). Capture an Ember Rufflizard.
Once you have finished these side quests, head to the Windward Plains Base Camp and find Samin.
He is at his usual spot in the tent with Dareel. Talk to Samin to start the quest. His next target is a Rime Beetle. Talk to Samin once again to find out more about the creature you need to capture. You learn that the Rime Beetle’s habitat is the Iceshard Cliffs.
How to Complete Samin’s Research Report (Cont)
These bug-like creatures are found in the snowy areas. Their particular feature is that, unlike the other creatures you’ve captured so far, the Rime Beetles have usable items. The snowballs they create can be used as Slinger ammo.
How to Find a Rime Beetle In Monster Hunter Wilds (MHWI)
You can find a Rime Beetle in Areas 2, 7, 8, 11, and 13 of the Iceshard Cliffs. Head to one of these locations and select the Rime Beetle filter icon to quickly discover their location.
Check the ground for the tracks that mark the creature’s presence. The beetles leave tracks in the snow when they work to create the snowballs.
How to Capture a Rime Beetle
Once you spot the Rime Beetle, prepare to capture it. Select the Capture Net and aim at the creature. Shoot and trap the beetle. They are not easily scared, so you don’t need to worry about them running away.
You can also get their snowballs if you want the frostburst ammo. Return to Samin at the camp to receive 10 Mandragora and five Honey for your efforts. You will also unlock the next side quests, tasking you with finding and capturing more critters.
