The Magic of Food substory is a side task in Like a Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. It involves speaking with Hauser and a bit of jealousy from other chefs. Let’s see what you need to do to complete it and unlock Hauser as a crew member!
How to Unlock The Magic of Food Substory
This substory becomes available after you complete The Symbol of the City, the Street Surfer substory. After you finish this side mission, head to the Soleil French Cuisine restaurant in South Waikiki. Notice the NPC wearing a chef hat. He is in front of the building.
Interact with the NPC to open the restaurant menu. Order a dish or a beverage. A cutscene will play, triggering the substory.
How to Complete the Magic of Food Substory
Watch the cutscene in which the NPC introduces himself as Hauser and explains that an experienced chef prepared the delicious food. Hauser is still in training and hoping to become a great chef one day. Majima agrees to visit the restaurant again.
Eat at Soleil Restaurant
The substory icon should appear immediately, but if it doesn’t, walk around for a bit and return to the restaurant.
Interact with Hauser and order a meal or drink. Another cutscene will play. Majima is delighted with the food once more and promises to come back. This time you don’t have to order something from the menu. Just speak to Hauser and he will tell Majima that he is still practicing hard to become a master chef.
The Third Visit at the Soleil Restaurant
Go enjoy another meal to trigger another cutscene. The conversation is interrupted when one of the chefs calls Hauser.
Majima discovers that the head chef doesn’t want Hauser to be promoted because his food is just too good and that might cost him his position. Majima cuts in and gives the two a piece of his mind followed by a piece of his fists as a fight begins.
The next objective is to beat the two chefs. It’s a short fight as they are no match for Majima. After the fight, the restaurant owner makes an appearance. Majima explains what happened and the owner has a chance to see for himself how good Hauser’s food is when he accidentally tries one of Hauser’s sandwiches. The substory concludes and you receive a Hawaiian Gold Ring as a reward and unlock Hauser as a crew member.
