The Sunken Statue in Slay the Spire 2 – What is Sword of Stone?

Slay the Spire 2

In Slay the Spire 2, you’ll get to encounter events upon entering unknown ? rooms. They’re random, and they can either have you make easy, or wrong decisions. One of these events is The Sunken Statue event. The Sunken Statue will make you choose between the Sword or Stone, or, even, gold.

Here’s what to choose during the Sunken Statue in Slay the Spire 2.

What is The Sunken Statue in Slay the Spire 2

Upon encountering the Sunken Statue, you’ll have to pick between Grab the Sword or Dive into the Water.

Option 1: Grab the Sword

  • Obtain the Sword of Stone

Option 2: Dive into the Water

  • Gain 106 gold. Lose 7 HP.

The first option will give you the Sword of Stone. The Sword of Stone is a relic that turns into the Sword of Jade upon defeating 5 elites. This Sword of Jade will give players +3 Strength.

But before you unlock Sword of Jade, the Sword of Stone will have no purpose at all. By picking this over the Dive into the Water option, you’ll miss out on 106 gold which you could’ve used to get potions, or some cards for some early power-ups. On top of it, you’ll also lose 7 HP.

The best option here depends on your case, so instead, we’ll show you some pros and cons.

Grab the stone pros and cons:

Pros

  • Gives you Sword of Jade, allowing you to increase your strength by 3 at the start of combat
  • Free stat increase

Cons

  • Only activates after defeating 5 elites. Forces you to fight every elite to get the Sword of Jade as soon as possible.
  • Less useful when obtained near the end of Act 1
  • You’ll lose HP, and 106 gold.
  • Not for players who like to avoid elites

That said, Sword of Stone can still be a good pickup. Strength is a stat that makes your attacks deal more damage. However, you’ll have to beat five elites, which makes the risk higher for a relic that you can only use mid act and/or act 3.
