In Slay the Spire 2, you will encounter events like Trash Heap inside Unknown Rooms. Trash Heap forces you to choose between a forgotten relic and a forgotten card. One option makes you lose HP and health, while the other gives you gold. Which one’s worth picking?
Find out in this Slay the Spire 2 Trash Heap guide.
What is the best option in Slay the Spire 2 Trash Heap?
During the Trash Heap event, you will have to choose between two options:
- Dive In: Lose 8 HP health. Obtain a random forgotten Relic from the past.
- Grab Random Junk: Gain 100 gold. Obtain a random forgotten card from the past.
Note that this event does not appear when you have HP below 5 health.
In this event, you’ll receive either a forgotten relic or a forgotten card, depending on which one you picked. Here are the potential items you could get.
STS 2 Forgotten relics
- Darkstone Periapt: Whenever you obtain a Curse, raise your Max HP by 6.
- Dream Catcher: Whenever you Rest, you may add a card to your Deck.
- Hand Drill: Whenever you break an enemy’s Block, apply 2 Vulnerable.
- Maw Bank: Whenever you climb a floor, gain 12 Gold. No longer works when you spend any Gold at the shop.
- The Boot: Whenever you would deal 4 or less unblocked attack damage, increase it to 5.

STS 2 Forgotten cards
- Rip and Tear: Deal 7 damage to a random enemy twice.
- Caltrops: Whenever you are attacked, deal 3 damage back.
- Distraction: Add a random Skill into your Hand. It’s free to play this turn. Exhaust.
- Outmaneuver: Next turn, gain 2 energy.
- Clash: Can only be played if every card in your Hand is an Attack. Deal 14 damage.
- Dual Wield: Choose an Attack or Power card. Add a copy of that card into your Hand.
- Entrench: Double your Block.
- Hello World: At the start of your turn, add a random Common card into your Hand.
- Rebound: Deal 9 damage. Put the next card you play this turn on top of your Draw Pile.
- Stack: Gain a Block equal to the number of cards in your Discard Pile.
To help weigh which option is better, we’ve outlined the pros and cons of each.
Dive In
Pros:
- Chance to get strong relics like Hand Drill or Dream Catcher.
- Can provide long-term synergy with certain deck types.
Cons:
- Loses HP, which can be risky if you already have low health
- Most relics from Trash Heap are underwhelming or situational.
- High chance of getting a “miss” relic that doesn’t help the run.
Grab Random Junk
Pros:
- No HP loss, safer choice overall.
- Immediate 100 gold can help buy key items at shops.
- Random card can sometimes be high-value, like Caltrops or Stack.
Cons:
- Card is random, might be weak or not synergize with the deck.
