Cages in the Dark is a Titan Quest 2 side quest that requires you to free four prisoners. Side missions like this one provide a great opportunity to acquire XP and loot. You can collect this quest by speaking with Itys over on the Pyrgos Outskirts

How to Start and Complete the Cages in the Dark Side Quest in Titan Quest 2
Complete the game’s Prologue to unlock the first area. You will find yourself on the island of Pyrgos. Leave the beach and reach Pyrgos Outskirts. Look for the NPC named Itys. Interact with him and learn that his sister and other villagers were taken as prisoners. Accept the quest and start the rescue mission.
Prisoner Locations in Fiend’s Hollow
To rescue the NPCs, you must go to the Fiend’s Hollow cave. Make your way west of the settlement and then head north to discover Fiend’s Hollow entrance. Enter the cave and get ready to fight your way through. You must defeat a few packs of Ichthian enemies to reach the prisoners.
First Group
From the cave entrance, make a left to find the first two prisoners. Defeat the enemies guarding the cage and open it to release Thais and Tellis.
Second Group
Take the path to the right and keep going right where the road splits. The second group is in the corner of the map. Kill the Ichthians and free Timandra and Oenops.
There is another cage in Fiend’s Hollow, but there are no prisoners in it. However, don’t go to the village just yet. Explore the cave and find the Mysterious Door. Complete the puzzle to unlock the door and receive XP, Embers of Night, and multiple items from the chests behind the door. Now you can return to the village and interact with Timandra to complete the Cages in the Dark side quest and collect 4881 XP and 244 gold.
