Wuchang Fallen Feathers – How To Complete Fang Yao Quests

Fang Yao Quests are a series of Wuchang Fallen Feathers missions that determine how the game ends. Fang Yao and He Youzai’s quest line is a prerequisite for the Dream’s Sweet Deceit and Bound by Thread’s Fate endings.

How to Unlock and Complete Fang Yao Quests in Wuchang Fallen Feathers

Soon after starting the game, you will run into He Youzai. There’s a connection between him and Fang Yao, but it won’t be revealed until later on. You will begin their complex quest line by talking to He Youzai a few times in the first game area.

He Youzai Interactions in Worship’s Rise

Reverent Temple

The first interaction happens in the Reverent Temple. Proceed and continue to leave the courtyard area and you will bump into He Youzai. Talk to him to receive the Bamboo Lantern.

Doomwillow Beach

The second interaction requires you to complete the Lost Package side quest. The quest item is near the Tang Palace Maid boss. Collect the package and hold on to it until you meet He Youzai at the Doomwillow Beach.

Reverent Temple

Defeat Commander – Honglan and you will be back at the Reverent Temple, where you meet He Youzai for the third time. You can now proceed with the main mission to reach Cloudspire, where you start Fang Yao’s quest line. However, you haven’t seen the last of He Youzai.

Hillswatch and Cloudspire City

From the shrine, follow the slope upwards and notice the ravine on the left. Use the Examine emote on the Face of the Past and collect the Shu Silk Scarf. Progress with the game and defeat Ming General – Liu Cheng’en. Explore the area and discover the chamber with the pinwheels and He Youzai waiting for you. Go to Cloudspire City and notice an enemy near a door on the left. Defeat it and interact with the door to meet Fang Yao. Give her the Shu Silk Scarf.

Shaft Entrance

Defeat the Mistress of the Night – Huang Yan and head around to the back of the elevator to find the Bloodied Paper. Ride the elevator and meet Fang Yai near the shrine. Hand her the item and choose the “Agree to help” option. Explore the area with the experiments and find the Mad Doctor’s Research Notes near the altar. Find He Youzai next to the bridge near the Bride’s Boudoir shrine and give him the Mad Doctor’s Research Notes and the Research Journal – Scrap 1, dropped by the Mistress of the Night – Huang Yan.

Fang Ling Perfect Bride

Defeat the Perfect Bride boss and rest at the Wedding Hall shrine. Interact with Fang Yao and collect Fang Yao’s Hairband and Fang Yao’s Light Gown.

Refugee Camp

Go through the Battlefield Pass and arrive at the Refugee Camp, where you will meet both NPCs. Interact with them to receive three Soft Rush Flowers and one Cornucopia Elixir.

Bai Mansion

Use the boat at the end of the pier in Ferry Overlook to reach Bai Mansion and meet He Youzai near the shrine. Defeat the boss and collect the Research Journal – Scrap 2. Give the item to He Youzai and receive a Cured Jerky for your troubles.

Worship’s Rise in Ruins and Bo Capital Interactions

Annalum

Exit the building and meet the two NPCs outside. Interact with them and receive a Soulgrass and a Cornucopia Elixir.

Reverent Temple

Look for Fang Yao left of the shrine and collect the Ring of Samsara – Cause and Research Journal – Scrap 3. Go to the third floor to meet He Youzai. Deliver him the Research Journal – Scrap 3 and obtain the Ring of Samsara – Effect. Return to the Annalum for an optional interaction with Fang Yao.

Capital Entrance

From the shrine, make your way down to reach the elevator and find He Youzai nearby. Interact with him and receive the Twirl the Pinwheel emote and the Belled Pinwheel item.
