The Bourgeon is an optional boss that players can fight in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. Out of all the moves it has, the one where it literally eats your party member is by far the most annoying. But there are also several other moves which can be avoided.

Finding the Bourgeon in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
You’ll be able to find the Bourgeon in two places: Flying Waters and the Endless Tower.
The Bourgeon that can be found in Flying Waters which is east of the Abbest Cave. Go to the Lumerian streets rest point and follow along the path before turning left at a lamppost. Around this area you will find the Bourgeon.
The other place the Bouregon can be found is in the Endless Tower. It’s the enemy for Stage 4, trial 2.
How to Defeat the Boss
Once you have found the Bourgeon in Clair Obscur, you need to defeat it. But before attempting to fight it there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
- One of it’s moves that you really can’t avoid is where it eats one of your player characters. Eventually they will spit them out but the character will be unavailable for several rounds. This is impossible to dodge. But you can break them free if you manage to break the enemy.
- The Bourgeon will perform a 3 hit combo where it slams it’s right hand three times.
- The four hit combo sees the boss attacking with a headbutt and then using it’s right fist three times in succession.
- The five-hit combo starts with a strike from the left hand, followed by a closed-fist blow. Then, the right hand slams into the target three times in quick succession.
- Now the crushing combo is something that you want to dodge or parry accordingly. There are three right hand slams, two left hand slams, and then a head slam.
- With it’s Miasma it can spit at you four times, and you’ll want to do your best to avoid it if you can because it can cause an Exhausted Status Effect. This means the character won’t gain AP.
The best way to defeat this creature is to learn it’s weakness and what weakness does it have you ask? Well to lightning! Gustave’s overcharge or Lune’s lightning abilities like Thunder Fall will go a long way to helping defeat this boss.
Equip Marking Shots to apply the Mark status and boost your damage against enemies.
Once you are done collect the rewards! One reward will be a Bourgeon Skin, for the The Small Bourgeon Quest
