In Clair Obscur Expedition 33 you’ll get several quests that give you a variety of rewards. Some are given to you by Nevrons while the Small Bourgeon Quest is given to you by a Small Bourgeon who just wants to be a bigger boy! It will also want the Bourgeon Skin

Where to Find the Small Bourgeon in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
The Small Bourgeon Quest can be found after finishing the Flying Waters area. Follow the map above and enter the area. It is north of Abbest Cave and West of the Ancient Sanctuary. Once you enter, stick to the left and you’ll come across this small little whiteish Bourgeon. Compared to some of the ones you’ve seen, this one is on the puny side.
Don’t worry, it won’t attack. Talk to it and it’ll say it wants to grow. But to get bigger, it needs Bourgeon skin. Yes, skin from another of it’s kind but if it works, it works.
Finding Bourgeon Skin
There is a much larger Bourgeon located over in the Flying Waters area you might have already fought. If so, then you already have the skin needed. This can be found around Flag 68, Coral Cave. There are other full sized Bourgeon’s to find but this is the easiest since you’ve already been there.
From the Coral Cave flag simply follow the path, as you would to escape the area, towards the flower field. Climb up the handholds on the wall and take an immediate right. Into a small area before reaching the streets.
Defeat the Bourgeon. Again, unless you’ve already beaten it. Then you can just take the skin to the Small Bourgeon. But if you haven’t fought it and then you can take it’s skin, once defeated. It has one real potential attack that can cause problems. This move is when it eats a companion. They will, then, be removed from the party. The only way to bring them back is to break the enemy.
Completing The Small Bourgeon Skin Quest
With the skin in hand (try not to think about it too much) you can go back to the small Bourgeon and give it the skin. It wants to rest so go outside the map and come back inside. Or you can rest at the flag. Either way, after doing one of these things head back to find that the Bourgeon has grown!
Upon talking to it, it will give you a color of Lumina. At this point you can just walk away or talk to it again. Talk to it again and it leaves you with two different options. Either leave it be or fight it. Fight it and you will get additional bonus rewards, such as; 5 colors of lumina and 1 polished Chroma Catalyst.
To fight or not to fight truly is the question here! It is also completely optional.
