Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Old Key is a mysterious item. That you can obtain during the prologue and find a use for it later. It is actually a missable item. Let’s see what you need to do with this strange key!
How to Obtain the Old Key
During the prologue, you will attend the Expedition Festival party. This is an event that celebrates the start of your adventure. As soon as the party starts, Gustave has one Festival Token. These items unlock the Expedition Festival rewards. The Old Key is one of them. Talk to Colette in the vendors area to obtain the key in exchange for one token.
You can get two more tokens by dueling Maelle and answering Antoine’s questions. The other two rewards are the Bun haircut for Gustave and the Weird Pictos.
Where to Use the Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Old Key
The item description says that the key unlocks an old door. You will find the door in question much later in the game. It will take around 15 hours to reach the area where you use the Old Key.
How to Find the Old Door
Follow the main story until you get to Old Lumiere. At one point, the party splits and you will be in control of Maelle. This is all part of the game’s campaign, so you cannot miss it. Make your way through the area until you discover the Left Street expedition flag. Follow the main path and you will arrive at an intersection.
On the left path, you can see a giant glowing sword. Take the right path and notice the Polished Chroma Catalyst in front of the hole. Make sure to acquire it before dropping down through the hole.
Immediately turn back to spot the old door, which is actually a gate. Use the key and unlock the door. Enter the small area to collect the Survivor Journal. This is one of the 49 journals needed to unlock the Follow the Trail trophy.
