A Shroud Over the Light is one of the Dragon Age the Veilguard side quests. The availability of this side mission depends on a decision made during one of the early main story quests. Let’s see what you need to do to unlock the quest and how to complete it!

How to Begin A Shroud Over the Light

At one point in the main campaign, Rook has to decide which city they will defend against the Blight Dragons. You cannot protect them both, so you must choose between Treviso or Minrathous (Dock Town). The undefended town gets destroyed. The consequences extend beyond side quests availability. The relationship with one of your companions, Lucanis or Neve, suffers as well. Depending on which town you choose, one loses their faith in Rook and goes away for a while.

So, if you want to complete A Shroud Over the Light, you need to pick Treviso when you are faced with the decision. Or, if you haven’t completed A Warden’s Best Friend Yet, complete all the side quests in the two towns before making a decision.

Save Treviso in A Shroud Over The Light side quest

Make your way to Dock Town and attempt to enter the Shadow Dragon’s Sanctum. A fight begins. Defeat the Unstoppable Executioner and A Shroud Over the Light side quest will begin automatically. The quest objective is to find out what happened with the Shadow Dragons. They have gone missing.

A Shroud Over the Light Walkthrough

Start your investigation in the Pawn Shop. Look on the ground where you will find some scrolls. The info in the scrolls points to the market. Your next location is marked on the map. Check the map and notice that you need to go northeast.

Follow the map marker and you will reach Urthemiel Venue. Now, go to the southern section of the market. There are some barrels there that you can destroy. The next clue is under the barrels. You will find a letter telling you where you need to go next.

Climb the ladder and advance towards the Snake Pass. Go through this area and keep following the quest market to reach the Dockside Jail. The next step is to fight a group of Venatori. The fight shouldn’t be too challenging. Slay the enemies and investigate their remains.

At this point, an NPC will spawn behind you. Listen to what the informant has to say and make your way to the southwestern side of Dock Town. You can use fast travel to reach Wharf Crossing North and prepare for another fight.

Start attacking the crystals that power the barrier and a group of Venatori will attack you. Defeat them and destroy the remaining crystals to take down the barrier. Enter the building and investigate the bodies. You will find out that the Shadow Dragons are hiding from the Venatori. The quest will be marked as complete.
