Loyal Friends is a Dragon Age the Veilguard side quest taking place in the Arlathan Forest. Rook and her companions must look into the disappearance of a group of Veil Jumpers. Let’s see what you need to do!
Loyal Friends – How to Reach the Quest Area
Rook acquires the quest from the Veil Jumpers camp when they read Taynore’s journal. The objective is to go back into the woods and discover what has happened to the missing Veil Jumpers. You don’t necessarily need to have Bellara Lutare in the group for this mission. Even if she is a Veil Jumper, she has no particular connection with the missing faction members.
To enter the quest area you need to reach the broken bridge. Go around the marker and reach the higher ground and a Blight boil you cannot destroy. Take the stairs and go onto the bridge. Cross the bridge and notice the ladder at the end of it. Go down using the ladder and go around the ledge. You will come across a brick wall. Notice the barrels next to it. Destroy them and the explosion will open up the way to the quest area.
Loyal Friends Walkthrough
Soon after entering the quest area, you will see a big Blight boil. Destroy it to uncover a cove containing a note from Oros. Rook’s task is to get rid of the other Blight boils in the area.
Destroy the Blight Boils
Notice the passage glowing red in front of the first Blight boil. Go through the doors and you will find another Blight boil. Now, go back and walk behind the golden hands. Use Harding’s ability to move the stones up. Climb the structure and you will find yourself on the rock with the golden hands at the base. The next boil is across. Destroy it and jump down.
Keep following the passage and make sure you are not entering through the door. You will soon reach another Blight boil. Destroy it and jump down to witness what happened to Taynore. You cannot prevent Taynore from being corrupted even if you hurry up. She becomes a Darkspawn Emissary. The next objective is to defeat her.
Slay Corrupted Taynore
The encounter is not that challenging if you know what to do. Being a Blighted enemy, Taynore resists Necrotic damage and is vulnerable to Fire damage. She has a barrier that can be destroyed with ranged attacks. Make a priority from taking down the barrier. Watch out for the blighted vines and her summon. The Hurlock summon has the same resistances and vulnerabilities as Taynore.
Use Fire attacks on the boss and abilities that prevent her from moving. Destroy the Hurlock’s armor with charged Heavy attacks and then use Fire spells. You can deflect the attack telegraphed by the Hurlock’s glowing ax.
After you defeat Taynore and the Hurlock, go to the back of the rock on the island. You will find out what Gus really is. Go back to the Veil Jumpers camp to return Gus home.
The reward includes:
- 100 Veil Jumpers strength.
- 500 XP.
- Nug Carving.
