Matter Over Mind is an Eternal Strands trophy that requires you to beat a powerful enemy without using weapons, such as an Arkon. Let’s see how you can complete this achievement!
How to Unlock the Matter Over Mind Trophy in Eternal Strands
The achievement description says that Brynn must “Defeat a great creature or arkon without equipping a weapon”. It seems like a daunting task, but it’s doable.
The preparation for the trophy requires you to have the following:
- Weaver’s Grasp level 3.
- Opportunist set.
How to Upgrade Weaver’s Grasp
The Weaver’s Grasp strand is part of Brynn’s magic starter kit. It’s available from the beginning. This spell allows you to pick up various items and throw them. You can use it to fight monsters and clear obstacles. However, to make effective use of it in this context, you need to upgrade it to level 3.
To upgrade a magic ability, you have to collect strands from specific monsters. In this case, you need to harvest Rehnland Sledgewyrm foes to acquire the necessary strand. To defeat such an enemy you need to break the destructible parts attached to its legs, back, and tail. These parts have an orange glow, so you can identify them.
Fight these enemies and once you have enough strands you can upgrade the Weaver’s Grasp ability.
How to Acquire the Opportunist Armor Set
The Opportunist armor set increases your magic prowess. This will help you defeat the enemy for the achievement. Luckily, this set is in Glinton Hollow, so you can get it from the start.
The set includes four items:
- Opportunist’s Cuirass.
- Opportunist’s Highgreaves.
- Opportunist’s Bracers.
- Opportunist’s Mask.
Here is where to find each item.
Opportunist’s Cuirass
Find the destructible door in Glinton Hollow and use a fire spell on it. Take the lift to go down and look for the cuirass in a crate.
Opportunist’s Highgreaves
Walk straight from the fast travel location in Feller’s Arch to find the armor on a table.
Opportunist’s Bracers
Make your way to the southern part of the area and cross the pond to reach an ice cage. Use a fire spell and enter the cave, where you will find the bracers.
Opportunist’s Mask
From the cave where you found the bracers, go north. Go up the ramp to the east and then uphill. Search for the mask in the carriage.
How to Defeat the Enemy and Unlock the Matter Over Mind Trophy
Now that you are all set up, equip the Opportunist set and the Weaver’s Grasp spell. Make sure to unequip your weapon. The enemy you will fight for the achievement is an Ark of the Stricken Earth.
Use the spell to remove the foe’s armor. After you’ve stripped the enemy, use Kinetic Stream to get to its Locus Point. Hold the Harvest button and you will defeat it, unlocking the trophy.
