The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- Absence of a Sign side quest can be found in the Cosmo Canyon Region during Chapter 10. This is a quest done with Aerith.
Beginning the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- Absence of a Sign Side Quest
To begin the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- Absence of a Sign side quest, find the Skywatcher’s Request on your map and go to the Planetology Assembly. Once you arrive, talk to a man named Caesar, one of the canyon’s mentors. He will tell you about the fiends in the vale and talk about the comets that they are looking for. Caesar and his people believe the comets are visible elsewhere. Aerith jumps to offer their aide. They give Cloud reference material (photos) and a recording instrument (a camera) to photograph the comets.
The First Celestial Phenomena
Travel to the new marker on your map to find the first celestial phenomena. On your way through the desert, you’ll come across a fiend called a Reapertail. It looks like a giant scorpion and it’s a pretty formidable foe. It attacks with its tail and claws frequently. Switching between your playable characters (Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Barret, Yuffie, and Red XIII) and using all their abilities, as well as keeping your distance from the Reapertail, is the best way to defeat it.
Once it’s defeated, you’ll be rewarded with 5 SP points, EXP and AP points, and 376 gil. Aerith will point out the stars in the sky and instructions tell you how to use the camera.
The photo you take has to be similar to the reference one Caesar gave you, with at least 80% accuracy. Press the left arrow to view the photo and L1 to take a closer look. Once you have the correct vantage point, use the up arrow to pull out the camera. Press R2 to take the photo.
Once you’ve snapped a photo, the game will ask you if you’re happy with this picture. You have two options.
- “Yes.”
- “Nope. Let’s retake it.”
Select “Yes” once you are happy with the photo.
The Second Celestial Phenomena
The next location will appear on your map. The best vantage point is usually marked by a glowing blue dot on your map. You can pin a custom marker there to travel to that specific spot. Once you arrive, you’ll come across another Reapertail and two Skeeskees. Rewards for killing the Skeeskees are EXP, AP, 98 gil, and an exquisite beast bone.
After you’ve defeated the fiends, repeat the same steps as before to take a picture of the stars. If you take a photo of Aerith before taking a photo of the stars, you’ll unlock a cutscene when getting a photo of the next set of stars.
The Third Celestial Phenomena
Move on to the third and final location. This one is more difficult to reach and requires that you use the Chocobos to fly across the canyon. Once you get to your destination, you will have to fight another Reapertail and Skeeskees.
After you’ve dealt with the fiends, pull out your camera for the next photo. If you snuck a photo of Aerith earlier, she’ll confront you and ask to take a selfie together. After the cutscene, you can take the final photo.
Rewards for the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- Absence of a Sign Side Quest
Once you’ve taken all three photos, return to Caesar at the Planetary Assembly. You’ll be rewarded for completing the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- Absence of a Sign side quest with a deck of tarot cards, party EXP, and your relationship with Aerith deepens.
