The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- Teach Me, Great Warrior side quest is in the Gongaga Region during Chapter 9. This quest is done with Yuffie. It’s best to complete this quest when you are still at a lower level since many players have reported having issues with opponents dying too fast when they’re at higher levels, interfering with quest progression.
Beginning the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- Teach Me, Great Warrior Side Quest
To begin the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- Teach Me, Great Warrior side quest, find the Rookie’s Request on the Community Noticeboard near the South Gate in the Gongaga Village. The notice is from a youth looking for someone to teach them how to fight. The Youth Coalition Rookie’s location is marked on your map.
When you find him, he’ll introduce himself as Sotetsu. He’ll ask you to teach him and talks about making someone named Zack proud. Cloud has three dialogue options:
- “‘Zack’?”
- “Why do you wanna become a ‘warrior’?”
- “No can do.”
Since there isn’t an option to agree, select “No can do” and Sotetsu immediately turns to Yuffie and asks her to train him. Yuffie agrees and Cloud is dragged along for the quest. When the game asks you if you’d like to begin training, select “Yes”.
The First Lesson
The first lesson requires that you assist Yuffie as she teaches Sotetsu how to fight. You have three objectives: strike an enemy three times, pressure an enemy, and ensure Sotetsu doesn’t fall in battle. You are facing two different types of fiends, a Frightflower and Amphidex.
If you are already a higher level, it’s recommended that you turn up your difficulty or remove all materia and use Focus Thrust attack to get all three objectives before killing the enemies. To pressure an enemy, you have to do enough damage to fill up the orange bar, the stagger bar, underneath their health bar.
Rewards for defeating the Frightflower are 50 EXP, AP, 203 gil, and a sprig of oregano. Rewards for defeating the Amphidex are 24 EXP, 1 AP, 78 gil, exquisite beast spine, and a sprig of oregano.
The Second Lesson
For the second lesson, you have to pressure enemies twice, stagger an enemy, and make sure Sotetsu doesn’t fall in battle. The Gaigihandi attacks with “Ambush” frequently. Use Focused Thrust against them when this happens. For this lesson, you are facing Amphidex and Gagighandi. Gagighandi rewards you with 70 EXP, 4 AP, 406 gil, beast talons, and an exquisite beast spine once defeated.
The Third Lesson
For the third lesson, you must stagger enemies twice, defeat all four enemies within the time limit (2:00), and keep Sotetsu alive. There are two Chimera Mimics and two Grandhorns. Defeating a Chimera Mimic will give you 76 EXP and 3 AP, 234 gil, and beast talon. Defeating a Grandhorn will give you 164 EXP, 6 AP, and 468 gil.
The Fourth Lesson
Sotetsu takes you to a place called the secret gym. Yuffie leaves to take a look around the area and returns with two beasts on her tail. The beasts, Mastodons, attack your party. Your only objective is to keep Sotetsu alive. They are larger and more difficult than any fiend you’ve faced in this quest so far. Utilize your party members and their abilities, which will help you stagger and defeat them. Rewards for defeating are 150 gil, exquisite beast spine, and exquisite beast hide
Rewards for the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- Teach Me, Great Warrior Side Quest
Sotetsu gets an idea and runs off to Gongaga Village. Return to Gongaga Village and you’ll find him with a group of youths his age. He asks Cloud and Yuffie to teach all of them how to fight. Cloud says it’ll cost them a lot and a girl named Cissnei appears, offering to teach them all for free. They decide to follow her instead.
You’re rewarded for completing the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Teach Me, Great Warrior side quest with Secrets of the Ninja Vol. IV, 10 SP for Yuffie, 10 party EXP, 1,100 EXP, and your relationship with Yuffie deepens.
