The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- The Spice of Life side quest can be found in the Gongaga Region during Chapter 9. This is a quest done with Aerith.
Beginning the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- The Spice of Life Side Quest
To begin the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- The Spice of Life side quest, talk to Cissnei in her house. She’s trying to make a soup and she offers to give Cloud and Aerith a bowl if they help her with the ingredients. Cloud has two dialogue options:
- “Why’s the kitchen look like a crime scene?”
- “Fine. We’ll help.”
By selecting the last one, you’ll begin the quest. Cissnei will send you to the Produce Peddler for Torgan’s vegetables. Exit her house and turn left. You’ll come across a crowd surrounding a dog named Melon. One of the citizens tells you that Melon is Torgan’s dog who sells produce in town.
You’ll want to follow Melon. He’ll lead you all the way back to Torgan’s Farm, where you’ll meet Torgan himself. At first, Torgan refuses to sell to out-of-towers, claiming he barely has enough produce for the people in town, but Aerith charms him and he agrees to give her the leftovers. He also suggests finding salt and Magonga Mushrooms for the soup. He gives them a drawing of the salt rock they need to find.
Find the Rock Salt
After talking to Torgan, approach Melon and the game will ask if you want to follow Melon to where you can gather rock salt. Select “Yes” and follow Melon.
Along the way, you’ll have to stop to fight fiends three times. The first time, you’re up against three Frightflowers, who are pretty easy to defeat. Defeating them rewards you with 318 EXP, 6AP, 3 sprigs of oregano, and 639 gil. Next, you’ll face an Amphidex, Chimera Mimic, and another Frightflower. Rewards for defeating them are 317 EXP, 6 AP, 541 gil, 2 sprigs of oregano, and an exquisite beast spine.
After that, you’ll have to fight two Grandhorns and a Gorgon Mane. Rewards for defeating a Grandhorn are 174 EXP, 3 AP, 246 gil, and a chunk of zinc ore each. The reward for defeating the Gorgon Mane is 320 gil and a beast bone.
Finally, you’ll reach the rock salt. There’s more than one type of rock, and this is where you’ll use Torgan’s drawing. Use the left arrow button to pull out the drawing and L1 to take a closer look. The bright pink rock salts match the photo. Pick three of them. They can be found along the path leading up the hill.
Find the Magonga Mushrooms
Next, get a Chochobo and go to Magon Hill for the Magonga Mushrooms. Once you reach the area on the Chocobos, a question mark appears by their head when something of interest is close by. Follow the golden thread that appears and it’ll lead you to the mushrooms. Dismount the Chocobo, approach the mushroom, and press the triangle button. Picking the mushrooms involves a mini-game, where you have to pick them just right. Instructions appear on the screen telling you how to play. Press R2 to Tug, O to cancel, and L2 + R2 to pluck.
Repeat the same process for the rest of the mushrooms. You’ll run into more Gorgon Manes as you explore the area.
Rewards for the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth- The Spice of Life Side Quest
Once you’ve collected all the ingredients (Torgan’s Vegetables x 1, Gongaga Rock Salt x 3, and Magonga Mushrooms x 3), return to Cissnei. Cloud has three dialogue options when he approaches her.
- “Ask what she needs.”
- “Leave.”
- “Give her all the ingredients you have.”
Select the last one to give her all the ingredients and she’ll begin making the soup. You’ll be rewarded for completing the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth The Spice of Life side quest with a pair of Chakra materia earrings, 10 party EXP, 1,100 EXP for Cloud, and your relationship with Aerith deepens.
