Frostpunk 2 Fervor – How To Prevent A Civil War

Frostpunk 2

Frostpunk 2 Fervor is a game mechanic that represents a faction’s desire to rebel against the regime. As you can imagine, this is something that you will want to avoid. However, keeping the factions in check is not easy. You will find out that pleasing a faction upsets another. Agitated factions become radical. If you don’t do something about it, you have a civil war on your hands. That’s where Fervor comes in. To decrease the chances of a civil war, you must reduce the factions’ Fervor.

Frostpunk 2 Fervor – How It Works

You can see a faction’s Fervor above its icon. This marker is at the bottom of the screen. The Fervor levels are measured with Red Diamonds.

Frostpunk 2 Fervor Levels

We have four Fervor levels:

  • 0. The faction is happy with your governance and has no desire to rebel.
  • 1. Protesting. The faction is displeased, however, it is not taking radical measures. They are spreading propaganda among the citizens and shutting down districts. At this level, it is possible to reach a peaceful conclusion through negotiations.
  • 2. Rioting. The protests take a violent turn and descend into riots resulting in injury and death. It is not possible to negotiate anymore. The riots end only if suppressed by the Steward or if the faction gets its way.
  • 3. Civil War. If Fervor is not reduced, riots will turn into a civil war. Factions will start attacking one another. The faction with the most Fervor will make the most victims against other faction’s members.

What Causes Frostpunk 2 Fervor to Rise

A faction’s Fervor increases if:

  • You refuse a faction’s demands.
  • You make a decision that is against a faction’s interests.
  • You ignore pleasing a faction for too long.
  • You end a protest by fulfilling the opposing faction’s demands.

Way to Decrease Frostpunk 2 Fervor

Here are the actions that decrease Fervor. However, keep in mind that balance is a delicate act in Frostpunk 2. All these actions have consequences that you shouldn’t neglect.

Faction Promotion

The Promote action allows the Steward to applaud a faction. The faction will become more popular and attract new members. This equals more power for that faction and it could turn into a problem if the faction is not happy.

Meet the Demands

Fulfilling a faction’s demands means altering your laws to align with their vision, assigning them research projects, and building facilities according to their Cornerstones. All these actions will make them happy and, as a result, Fervor will decrease.

Use the Deradicalize Action

This action lowers Fervor by decreasing the number of members. Deradicalize becomes available when a community and a faction sharing the same Cornerstone have good relations. This action causes the faction members to leave and return to the community.

Imprison Faction members

This is a radical action that shouldn’t be used if other means are available. You can use this method once you have a Prison building. The Round Up Faction Members action allows you to send faction members to prison. Up to 500 members will be arrested by the Guard Squads. The Fervor will decrease. On the other hand, Tension will rise. Don’t use this action if Tension is already Severe or Catastrophic.
