How to Start the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Troubadours Side Quest

You can start the Troubadours side quest after you get the Wedding Crashers main quest. There is no point in rushing the main campaign, as there are several missable side tasks worthy of your attention. To begin the Troubadours quest, go to the Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn and speak to George and Michael.

After a lengthy conversation, Henry agrees to help them by finding a lute. Before proceeding with this quest, you should complete the side quest Lackey.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Troubadours Walkthrough

The musical instrument you must acquire sits in the Carpenter shop in Troskowitz. Talk to the Carpenter and learn how he got the lute and why he doesn’t want to sell it. After the conversation, one thing’s clear: you must find an alternate way to obtain the lute.

How to Collect the Lute

There are two ways to get the lute:

• Steal it.
• Get the Carpenter’s father to take a break and then steal it.

Steal the Lute

This is the fastest way to get the quest item. Wait for nighttime and pick the lock to the Carpenter’s house. Enter the house and then the room on the left. Grab the loot from the wall and return to Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn.

Trick the Carpenter’s Father

If you are having trouble stealing the lute at night, get some mead from the tavern and head to the Carpenter’s house during the day. Even if the house is unlocked during the day, entering it still counts as trespassing, so make sure no one sees you. Enter the room with the lute and you will run into the Carpenter’s father. Interact with him and offer to share a drink. The old man cannot handle his liquor and will take a nap after one drink. Once he leaves the room, you can steal the lute.

Return to Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn With the Lute

You should head to the Inn as soon as you get the lute. Interact with the two bards and observe what happens next. Some drunk guy accidentally breaks it. Michael and George demand retribution.

You have two options:

• Beat the drunkard who broke the lute.
• Pass the Persuasion check to avoid fighting.

No matter how you choose to handle this, the next part of the quest requires you to collect lute strings to fix the broken instrument. Michael and George suggest visiting Hunter Vostatek.

How to Get Lute Strings

Head to Vostatek’s house and talk to him about the strings. Keep in mind that you will find him at home only if you have completed the Lackey side quest. Vostatek can make lute strings, but he needs sheep guts as a crafting material.

There are two ways to collect sheep guts:

• Loot them from a sheep.
• Buy them from the Butcher shop in Troskowitz.

Buying the crafting materials is the fastest way, If you have unlocked the Bounty of the Wild Survival perk, you can get them yourself. Acquire the sheep guts in any way you like and return to Vostatek. He will make the strings for you. Return to Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn with the lute strings. With the repaired tool of their trade, George and Michael can pursue their dreams, however there’s one small problem. They owe money to the Innkeeper and cannot leave before clearing their debt.

Clear the Bards’ Debt

Talk to the Innkeeper about the debt and learn what your choices are:

• Pay 100 Groschen to clear the debt.
• Do some chores.

The chores involve carrying eight sacks and digging a hole. These tasks take place at the Inn and they don’t take much time. It is recommended to do the chores to save money.

Once the debt is settled, the musicians are free to go. Before taking off, they treat the locals with a song about Henry, the hero. That’s the only reward you get from this quest.
