Aloha Links is a feature in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii that allows Goro to make friends. Let’s see what you need to do to befriend the NPCs of Honolulu!
This feature was also introduced in Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. Now it continues with Majima’s latest title into the series. There is a total of over 200 NPC characters players can befriend. You only need to find 50 of them in order to unlock the Extreme Extrovert trophy achievement
How to Unlock and Use Aloha Links in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
You will gain access to this feature by progressing in the story. Follow the main quest until you reach Chapter 2. When you visit the Revolver Bar for the second time, Kei will introduce you to a social app through which you befriend NPCs in Honolulu.
How to Make Friends Using Aloha Links
As you walk around, you will notice that some NPCs have a gray smiley icon, meaning they are possible friends. Animals, too, can become friends, so keep an eye out for them as well.
Whenever you see an NPC with the gray icon, perform one of the following actions to gain their trust.
Greet Them
Use the greeting button to say Aloha. Their icon will turn green if they respond to your salute.
Support Their Business
Some of your future friends are merchants or restaurant owners. Buy something from them or visit their establishment to make them happy.
Fulfill a Request
Notice the NPCs with the chat box above their heads. Interact with them to learn what they would like. Most of them will require a consumable item. Acquire the item and give it to them and you will become friends.
Feed the Animals
If the NPC you want to befriend is an animal, you can please them by giving them treats. You can buy pet food from the store or find it in containers.
Rescue Them
You might run into NPCs threatened by bandits. If you take care of the thugs, they will appreciate it and reward you with a prize.
How to Increase the Friendship Bond and Earn Rewards
Each one of these friends has a friendship gauge or meter. You can fill this gauge by performing the above actions. When the friendship meter is full, they will turn into buddies. The more buddies you have, the better your reputation will become.
Being popular pays off. New crew members are unlocked based on how many friends or buddies you have. For example, Kei joins your crew after you gain 30 buddies. Each time you reach a certain number of friends, you unlock rewards such as apparel items and ship customization options.
