The Megabonk Hero Sword is one of the best weapons. To acquire it, you need to complete a daunting challenge: to defeat a Stage Boss without shrines, power-ups, and items.

How to Get the Megabonk Hero Sword and Achievement
The sword comes as a reward for clearing a Stage under the specified conditions. What makes the task particularly challenging is that you must avoid picking up said items. This means you have to stay away from shrines, chests, and power-ups.
Hero Sword Unlock Strategy
The only items you can use are weapons and tomes. This is not a challenge you can complete in the early game. It’s best if you postpone the challenge until you have all four weapons and tomes slots. Banishing items, skipping level rewards, and re-rolls are of great help. Get the Toggler to remove weapons and tomes. Upgrade Banish to get rid of unnecessary items when you level up. Refresh allows you to re-roll rewards from leveling up.
The easiest map for the challenge is Forest Tier 1. Try to fight in open areas, so you don’t accidentally run into a power-up or a bonus chest. Stay out of narrow spaces where enemies can surround you. Jars are fine to pick up, but you must steer clear of any other items. Shrines are not that hard to avoid, simply stand out of their activation range.
Weapons and Tomes
The recommendation is to use ranged weapons, so deactivate any unlocked melee weapons. Avoid any weapons that you cannot control, such as the Bone or Bananarang. The Firestaff, Lightning Staff, and Revolver combo will make the challenge easier. The Bow and Sniper Rifle are valid options as well.
When it comes to tomes, you should get the ones that increase your damage. The XP and Attraction tomes are a must, as they allow you to boost the XP gain and collect it from afar. The Cooldown and Projectile tomes give attack and projectile speed. Using these tomes will allow you to level up before the boss fight. Starting the boss fight with two minutes left should give you enough time to kill it and acquire the coveted Hero Sword.
