Where To Find All Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Shot Expansion Upgrades
Throughout the game, we can find 6 large expansions and 38 small expansions:
- Large expansions add 20 ammo.
- Small expansions add 10 ammo.
There is no distinction between elemental ammo. Each time you fire Ice, Fire, or Thunder shots, you will consume the same shot ammo.
You won’t be able to find all the shot expansions the first time you enter an area. It takes several visits to collect all upgrades:
- Fury Green – 7 expansions.
- Volt Forge – 7 expansions.
- Ice Belt – 7 expansions.
- Sol Valley – 8 expansions.
- Flare Pool – 9 expansions.
- The Great Mines – 6 expansions.
Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Shot Expansion Locations in Fury Green
Shot Expansion 1 – Jungle Path
Use a Fire Shot on the webbing and use the morph ball to collect the Shot Expansion.
Shot Expansion 2 – Cleared Path
Move the object in front of the three braziers and use a Fire Shot to ignite them. Witness the cutscene with the door opening and collect the upgrade.
Shot Expansion 3 – Isopod Lair
Use Fire Shot on the webbing.
Shot Expansion 4 – Ravine Overlook
Use Fire Shot on the webbing by the waterfall.
Shot Expansion 9 – Fountain of Tranquility
Use Ice Shot to freeze the water under the left platform. Pull the node and insert it into the next platform. Freeze the water under it and climb the now stable platforms to reach the one with the shot expansion.
Shot Expansion 14 – Cargo Staging Area
Use Thunder Shot on both ends of the Lamorn container.
Shot Expansion 15 – Rods of Transference
Lower the three structures and make sure they point towards the container in the middle. Use Thunder Shot on each structure to open the container.
Volt Forge Shot Expansion Upgrades Locations
Shot Expansion 13 – Tower 1 Elevator 1
Reveal the morph ball tunnel and enter it. Shoot the large container hiding the shot expansion.
Shot Expansion 30 – Tower 2 Generator
Activate the spider track and use the grapple points to reach the next spider track, leading to a platform on which you will find a container. Destroy it to reveal the Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Shot Expansion.
Shot Expansion 31 – Tower 2 Storage
Create a grapple point on the ceiling and use the platforms to reach it. Swing across and land on the platform holding the shot expansion.
Shot Expansion 32 – Tower 2 Elevator 3
Pull the grate and switch to morph ball form. Jump on the elevator and then through the hole to get the upgrade.
Shot Expansion 33 – Tower 2 Archives
Pull the two latches and jump on the container to reach another container with a latch. Pull this one too and it will fall on the floor, revealing the shot expansion.
Shot Expansion 34 – Tower 2 Collapsed Catwalk
Rip off the grate and enter the morph ball tunnel. Defeat the enemy inside and navigate to the end of the tunnel.
Shot Expansion 35 – Tower 1 Manufacturing Floor
Follow the spider track and ascend. Make sure to avoid the electricity rings. Reach the top, where you will find the shot expansion on a ledge.
Ice Belt Locations
Shot Expansion 5 – Snowfield
Use Fire Shot to melt the ice.
Shot Expansion 6 – Tracking Operations
Enter the morph ball tunnel and follow the route to the right to reach this Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Shot Expansion location.
Shot Expansion 7 – Lower Airlock
Use a bomb to open the door and shoot the container blocking the pod that contains the elemental shot upgrade.
Shot Expansion 18 – Equipment Storage
Use the morph ball to reach the location.
Shot Expansion 19 – Surgery Conduit
Avoid the electricity beam trap to reach the location.
Shot Expansion 20 – Power Generator
Use the grapple nodes to reach the morph ball track on the other side and collect the upgrade.
Shot Expansion 21 – Security Gates
Shoot a missile and enter this secret location in morph ball form.
Sol Valley Locations
Shot Expansion 8 – Cargo Launcher to Temple of Memory
Go up the stairs and use Fire Shot to clear the way.
Shot Expansion 12 – Flare Pool Entrance
Find this Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Shot Expansion on a ledge to the east.
Shot Expansion 16 – Floating Path Shrine
Retrieve the node and insert it into the pillar.
Shot Expansion 17 – Falling Labyrinth Shrine
Destroy the green crystals to reveal a morph ball entrance. Proceed and collect the shot expansion.
Shot Expansion 22 – Great Mines Entrance
Use the grapple points to swing across and reach the location.
Shot Expansion 25 – Great Mines Entrance
Grapple up, use a super missile to destroy the lock, and enter the secret location in morph ball form.
Shot Expansion 43 – Rings of Stone Shrine
Fire a control beam at the ceiling alcove to reveal a morph ball tunnel. Enter it and collect the shot expansion.
Shot Expansion 44 – Northern Galactic Federation Debris Site

Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Shot Expansion Locations in Flare Pool
Shot Expansion 10 – Lava Lake Bridge
Activate the morph ball and use the Psychic Boost Rail to reach the shot expansion location.
Shot Expansion 11 – Undercarriage
Destroy the ornament using a missile.
Shot Expansion 36 – Lava Lake Bridge
Use the grapple points to ascend.
Shot Expansion 37 – Volcano Heart
Near a rock in the lava.
Shot Expansion 38 – Entry Bay
Use a Fire Shot to melt the grate and enter the morph ball tunnel under the floor.
Shot Expansion 39 – Boiler Room
Use a Thunder Shot on the lock and enter the room. Defeat the enemies, pull off the latch, and shoot the yellow orb to activate it.
Shot Expansion 40 – Energy Injection
Use Thunder Shot on the yellow tank to activate the boost pad and then use the boost pad to spawn the rods. Shoot them with Thunder Shot to release the arm and collect the shot expansion.
Shot Expansion 41 – Energy Injection
Grapple up three times and swing across to reach the platform.
Shot Expansion 42 – Scrapyard
Use a power bomb to clear the obstacle blocking the spider track.
The Great Mines Elemental Ammo Upgrade Locations
Shot Expansion 23 – Main Shaft Level 2
In morph ball form, use the boost pad to reach the location.
Shot Expansion 24 – Crystal Crevice
Grapple up to the Crystal Crawler and jump towards the location.
Shot Expansion 26 – Entry Tunnel
Use the lasso to rip off the plate and reveal the shot expansion location.
Shot Expansion 27 – Garnbocask Site B
Destroy the rock using a power bomb and reveal a secret location.
Shot Expansion 28 – Quarry
Use a super missile to destroy the lock and pull the grate. Use bombs to align the tunnels and follow the path to the shot expansion upgrade.
Shot Expansion 29 – Main Shaft Level 3
Shoot the button to activate the spider track and follow it. Don’t forget that you can reactivate the track with the control beam.
