Nioh 3 Futamata Castle – How to Defeat the Baba Nobuharu

Nioh 3

In Nioh 3, the Baba Nobuharu boss can be found during the Battle of Futamata Castle. As a main story boss, you must fight him. He is quite a powerful boss, so you’re going to want a few tricks up your sleeve before you go face him.

How to Defeat Baba Nobuharu in Nioh 3

Baba Nobuharu in Nioh 3 comes with an impressive set of moves. However, there are ways to come out the victor despite the strength of his abilities.

  • Axe Swing is when he launches several swings with his axe. It’s a mist-based move, so he will be hidden to an extent. You want to dodge, wait a second, and then dodge again. Follow this pattern as there is usually a second between his movements and attacks.
  • Stomping occurs when he stomps with his foot. Another attack tends to follow, so stay sharp!
  • Grab Attack is his chance to grab you when you’re close enough. Your head will be slammed to the ground.
It deals significant damage, so keeping your distance from the boss throughout the fight is essential to avoid this attack.
  • Swipe Attack will cause the boss to swipe at you with his claws. It’s best to dodge or block before it lands.
  • Water Pillar is a tricky move. The boss takes his axe and slams it down, causing a large amount of water to spray upwards. Your best option is to run as soon as the axe hits the ground to avoid the water attack.
  • Jump Attack occurs when he jumps into the air and then hits the ground. All you can do is dodge so he doesn’t land on you.
  • Air Swipe occurs when he swipes his claws around, making three blades appear. They slice around the battlefield. Dodge accordingly, but they are fast, so you need to be quick yourself.
  • Spin Attack is when he swings around his axe. When he starts spinning, create as much distance as possible to avoid getting hit.
  • Axe Attack is a variety of attacks, but most often, he simply brings it up and hits it onto the ground. In the time it takes him to prepare for this move, you can go around and attack him from behind.
  • Great Wave is quite literally when he creates a wave that fills the battlefield. You’ll notice he is about to use this move when he drags his axe on the ground. When he lifts it, water appears. Dodging and keeping your distance are key to avoiding damage.

Here are some general tips for the battle:

  • The best thing is to strike him from behind when he is in the middle of recovering after attacking you. Once you hit him, you need to gun it, getting as far away from him as you can.
  • When you’re not dodging, attack from a distance while he is preparing and attacking you. He is weak to lightning, so using some lightning-based attacks can go a long way to damaging him.
  • He is able to create illusions, so stay calm and pay attention.
  • Take advantage of Acolytes. They can help during the battle.

Rewards for defeating Baba Nobuharu in Nioh 3 include a mixture of weapons, armor, Demon of Mino’s Charm, and Samurai’s Locks
