Octopath Traveler 0 has several side quests throughout the game, some are a little stranger than others, and this includes the Big ‘Un. This particular quest may seem simple at first, as it starts with having to retrieve an item for an NPC. However, it doesn’t end there. Once you bring the item back to them, you discover that there is more to this quest than meets the eye

How to Complete the One’s The Big ‘Un Side Quest in Octopath Traveler 0
Once you complete the dungeon in Waterpool Cave, you then need to go to Clearbrook Traverse. There will be an NPC that you will need to talk to. He is located south and watching the water. Talk to him, and you’ll learn he needs some special bait to catch the Big ‘Un, something he’s been trying to catch for years. You’ll need to purchase this bait for him if you want to have any hope of completing the quest.
Go to Clearbrook and talk to the Cloudy Eyed Fisherwoman to be able to purchase the shrimp from her. You can purchase three of these shrimp baits for about 300 leaves. There is the option to haggle, but the regular price is 300. Once you have purchased these shrimp from the Fisherwoman, you can return to the NPC who gave you the quest in Clearbrook Traverse.
Defeating the Shrimp
Approach and hand him the shrimp. What happens next might be a bit of a surprise, but you have to fight the Big ‘Un that the Fisherman has tried so hard to get. A cut scene will trigger, leading to a fight. This enemy is weak to Swords, Dark, Axes, and Polearms. He has around 27K HP, so be prepared.
The NPC will be thrilled once you defeat the Big ‘Un. As a reward for defeating the enemy, you’ll get the Master Harpoon, which he happily gives you for defeating the monster fish.
