Stat-wise, yes. The choice gives a boost in the stat of your choice. Stats affect the success of your path actions. Each NPC values either Wealth, Power, or Fame. The success of your path actions towards a certain NPC depends on your stats. For example, if your Power stat is high enough, you can battle a Power-aligned NPC and obtain their items. A Wealth-aligned NPC will sell you their items. You can entreat Fame-aligned NPCs to give you their items.
Quest-wise, no. The choice does not lock you out of any of the Master of main quests. It just dictates which one becomes active. You can complete the quests one at a time or tackle all three at the same time.
