At the start of Act 3 in Slay the Spire 2, you may encounter different Ancients, such as Nonupeipe. Like other Ancients, it will offer you a choice between three Ancient Relics. If Fur Coat appears among the options, we recommend taking it.
Here’s what you need to know about Fur Coat in Slay the Spire 2, what it does and why it’s worth picking.
What is Fur Coat in Slay the Spire 2?
Fur Coat is an ancient relic that you can get during Act 3 of STS 2 from Nonupeipe.

Unlike other relics, Fur Coat does not bring any cards, potions, additional stats or gold. It doesn’t give you a relic that increases your stats as well. Instead, Fur Coat marks 7 random combats, leaving all the enemies inside with 1 HP.
After picking this Relic up, you will see 7 combat rooms with red cross marks. This includes both enemies and elite rooms.
Fur Coat in Multiplayer
There have been cases as well where multiple players get Fur Coat. That’s something I experienced firsthand.
In multiplayer, Fur Coat’s effect stacks. This means that if two players have this relic, 14 combat rooms will be marked. When this happens, you could essentially be skipping most of Act 3.
Should you get Fur Coat in Slay the Spire 2?
Fur Coat is one of the best Ancient Relics to get for Act 3. It allows you to essentially get free relics, cards, and other rewards from enemies. It also prevents any potential HP loss when fighting enemies, especially in elite rooms.

This also makes choosing the path in Act 3 quite a lot easier. With Fur Coat, you should consider taking paths with more Fur Coat maps. Ideally, try to look for ones with at least two marked Elite rooms. Especially in Act 3, bosses tend to be more punishing, and unless you have a really good deck, you could leave the room with low HP or dead. Fur Coat gets rid of that problem.
The only real downside to picking Fur Coat is when luck isn’t on your side. Marked Rooms offer relics, cards, potions, and gold, but there’s no guarantee that what you get will be useful, or even fit your deck. That said, Fur Coat is still worth taking, much like Cursed Pearl and Greed.
