Slay the Spires 2 The Legends Were True event – Should you Get the Spoils Map?

In Slay The Spire 2 entering Unknown “?” rooms can put you at risk or give you some leverage if done right. In one of these rooms, you may encounter the Legends Were True event.

Here’s what happens during the Slay the Spire 2 Legends Were True event and which of the two options is worth choosing.

Slay the Spire 2 Legends Were True – What is the Spoils map?

In Slay the Spire 2, you have the option to get the Spoils map during the Legends Were True event from Act 1.

The only clear detail here is that you’ll receive the Spoils Map quest card, an unplayable card that marks a site with 600 extra gold in the next act. Even then, newer players may find it difficult to judge whether it’s more worthwhile than taking the potion.

Taking the Spoils Map presents a similar dilemma to choosing the Sword of Stone in the Sunken Statue event. It adds an unplayable card that provides no immediate benefit and clogs the deck. While it can be a worthwhile option, its value only comes later in the run.

So what does it actually do?

Picking ‘Nap the Map’ adds the Spoils Map, an unplayable quest card. You’ll find no purpose to this quest card until you reach the Act 2.

In one of the Treasure chests, you’ll find one with x mark. Upon reaching it, you’ll receive 600 gold, which is quite a lot. With this, you could potentially get at least two relics, and a few cards and potions of your choice.

It certainly is worth it, as long as you can survive having one useless card in your deck.

Remember not to get rid of this card by any means! Removing this card removes the mark as well, meaning you won’t get the 600 gold.

Overall, the Spoils Map appears to be the better choice. However, if you need immediate help or something to salvage your Act 1 run, you might opt for the second choice, which gives a random potion but costs 8 HP. Still, it’s a gamble, losing 8 HP is significant, and there’s no guarantee the potion will be useful.
