Join The Crimson Fleet – Starfield

Starfield Wikis

There are many reasons why you might want to join the Crimson Fleet in Starfield. The Crimson Fleet is one of the deadliest factions in the solar system and is also one of the only ‘evil’ groups in the game. However, joining them is actually a very long process.

If you join the Crimson Fleet, you will also unlock the ‘Rook Meets King’ Achievement. Doing so will reward you with 10 points, and get you a little bit closer to game completion.

Deep Cover

Joining the Crimson Fleet actually starts with you interacting with another faction- the UC Vanguard. When you encounter UC members on your travels, you will be asked to come and meet their leader- Commander Ikande. This initiates the mission ‘Deep Cover’, which will eventually allow you to join the Vanguard. However, to join the Crimson Fleet, you will end up betraying the Vanguard.

Ikande will ask you to join the Vanguard on an undercover mission to infiltrate the Crimson Fleet. To do this, you will need to head to Mars to talk to Saorise Bowden. Saorise will give you a lead on a man named Adler Kemp who is a member of the fleet.

Adler Kemp will demand you to collect a debt from another man called Karl Fielding. You can track Karl down, or pay the debt yourself. Just make sure that Alder is happy with the payment.

Rook Meets King

Once you have paid Adler, you will initiate the ‘Rook Meets King’ quest.

Alder will tell you to meet with Naeva Moira, who can be found on her ship on Europa. Naeva will send you on a mission to take out Austin Rake. Again, there are a few different ways to deal with this mission, so pick the route that best suits your playstyle.

Once you’ve dealt with Austin Rake, head back to Naeva’s ship. Within a few moments of your arrival, you will find yourself under fire from a group of enemy Ships. Help Naeva to destroy the attackers, and she will give you access to ‘The Key’- The Crimson Fleet Headquarters.

How to Join the Crimson Fleet

Once you reach The Key, you will be able to betray the UC Vanguard and join the Crimson Fleet. You will be presented with the option of continuing with the UC’s plan of sabotaging the Fleet, or turning around and killing the UC members on board the ship. If you want to join the Fleet, choose the second option.

After taking out the UC members, all you need to do is walk around as Naeva gives you a tour of the space station. From here, head to the nearby elevator and go up to the Operations Center. You should find Delgado- the leader of the Crimson Fleet. After a brief conversation, he will enroll you as a member of the Fleet, bringing the ‘Rook Meets King’ quest to an end.

Delgado will also gift you the following items when you join the Crimson Fleet:

  • 5800 credits
  • Pirate Swashbuckler Gear
  • 250 XP

When you’re ready, you’ll be able to complete your first official mission as a member of the Crimson Fleet. The mission is called Echoes of the Past. It gives you a great overview of the history of the Crimson Fleet.

Why Should You Join the Crimson Fleet in Starfield?

There are a few different reasons why you may want to join the Crimson Fleet in Starfield. These include:

  • Gain Access to New Facilities. By joining the Crimson Fleet, you will gain access to a variety of new facilities that cannot be unlocked elsewhere. These facilities, like the shielded cargo bays, generally focus on smuggling illegal goods around the solar system. Therefore, if you’re looking to be an outlaw, joining the Crimson Fleet is a no-brainer.
  • Stop the Fleet From Attacking You. Perhaps an even more compelling reason to join the Crimson Fleet is that doing so will stop the faction from attacking you. These guys can appear literally anywhere and ruin your progress. But, by being a member of the faction, the Fleet will leave you alone, allowing you to get on with the mission at hand.
  • Become a Space Pirate. When you join the Crimson Fleet, you officially become a Space Pirate. This might just be the best-sounding title in the entire game, and is reason enough to give the Crimson Fleet a try!
