How to Romance Gennojo in Assassins Creed Shadows

To romance this character, you must complete several side quests and select specific responses.

Meet Gennojo

Naoe meets Gennojo while working on the Missing Missive main quest.

After killing The Fool, you will have a conversation with Gennojo, during which you should choose the “You might be right” option to unlock the first quest in his series. If you only want him as an ally, say “You are misguided”.

Sake and Swords

The Sake and Swords quest begins over in Ogura Pond, Yamashiro. Here meet up with Gennojo and initiate the conversation.

The dialogue option that advances the romantic pursuit is “Depends on what you’re offering”. Choosing any of the other options counts towards unlocking him as an ally. Once the conversation ends, a couple of samurai will attack you. Defeat them and talk to Gennojo. The romantic dialogue option is “Show me, thief”.

Honor Among Thieves

Travel to Shokokuji Temple, Kyoto to meet Gennojo.

Your mission is to retrieve a scroll from the Kubo Sama Old Residence. Complete the task and respond with “I’m keeping it, then”. Selecting the “This is serious” option will lock you out of the romance path. To start the next quest, choose “I’m all in”.

Stolen Hearts – Romance Gennojo

Go to the Hills of Meeting to find out what this next quest is all about.

Some soldiers abducted Gennojo and you must free him. While talking to him, select the “I’m here for you” dialogue option. A cutscene will play. After the cutscene, say “I’d like to embrace you” and witness the romantic moment.

The Godless Harvest – Recruit Gennojo

This is the last quest in Gennojo’s series. You’ve unlocked him as a romantic partner, but there’s one more step to complete to recruit him as an ally.

Infiltrate Nijo Palace, find the rice, and defeat Tatsugoro. In the final scene, pick whichever option you like other than “Do Nothing”, as your inaction will result in Gennojo’s death. Any of the other two options will unlock him as an ally.
