Dragon Age The Veilguard - Cornered In The Catacombs Side Quest

Cornered in the Catacombs is one of the Dragon Age the Veilguard (DATV) side quests. Rook will explore the catacombs under Dock Town and eliminate the Blight.

How to Start Cornered in the Catacombs

Head to the Shadows Dragons’ Sanctum in Dock Town. Look around to find a Grey Warden who is not in the best of health. She has a request from Rook: to hunt the Darkspawn. Track the quest and follow the marker to reach the Eastern docks. A door that was previously locked is now open.

The recommendation is to have Taash or Davrin in your party for this quest. The Darkspawn enemy is vulnerable to Fire damage. Neve or Bellara can also help with Detonations. Emmrich should sit this one out, as Necrotic damage doesn’t hurt the Darkspawn too much.

Cornered in the Catacombs Walkthrough

Enter the cave system and take down the Darkspawn. Use area abilities and Fire-based attacks on the Ghouls and Hurlock Blighters. The Berzerkers are challenging enemies on which you should use heavy attacks to take down their armor, leaving them exposed to Fire attacks.

How to Destroy the Blight

Keep pushing through the caves and you will emerge in a room with stone arches. Here, you must destroy several Blight Boils. Start with the big Blight Boil in the middle and then take care of the smaller ones.

Go to the back of the room and position Rook under the arch. Look above and target the boil above the statue using Assan’s attack. You can now destroy the other Blight Boils. Turn right and target the boil on the window. Return to the cluster above the statue. Apply the same strategy to the boil on the left. Look on the left side of the gate and notice another boil in the alcove. Aim at the cluster again. You can reach the next boil through the wall opening.

Now, focus the big Blight Boil on the wall and then the gate. Don’t forget to get the Evanuris Altar before leaving the room.

How to Solve the Stone Puzzle

Go down into the water and notice the rock blocking the beam. Try to move it, but there will be another rock blocking it. Here is what you have to do.

Make the beam go through the gap by lowering the first rock. Now, turn to the rock on the wall and pull it out. Enter the opening and lower the second stone. The first rock will remain in place, no longer blocking the beam.

You can now eliminate the Blight Boil in the alcove close to the beam. Attack the gate and access the elevator. Go outside, where you will face more Darkspawn. Defeat them to end the quest.
