Dune Awakening has something that mirrors real life and it’s taxes. Yes, even in Arrakis you can’t escape the tax man hounding you for money. The mere mention of taxes might make you want to jump ship but you’ll want to stick around because it’s important if you want to keep your base!
Paying Taxes in Dune Awakening

To be able to pay your taxes you need to visit an Imperial Tax Representative in Arrakeen or, alternatively, Harko Village. Speak to the officer marked on your map and choose to pay the taxes! It’s your choice whether or not you want to pay in full. Yes, it is as easy as that. The difficult part is that you need to pay it regularly.
Cost of Taxes and How to Keep it Down

To see how much you owe make sure to check the Sub Fief Console. This will show you how much you owe. Doing a quest or two can help you pay that off in no time but you want to make sure you pay it otherwise it will pile up. After a few weeks, you will lose your base, and this will enable other players to loot your base!
No one wants their hard work to go to waste so make sure to log on every few days, even if it’s just to pay the tax man. The tax man will be happy to take your money, but you’ll be thrilled because you won’t lose your base that you worked hard to get and set up!
Taxes are calculated based on how much space you have claimed in game. If you just have one base with no expansion, it’s not going to be that high so the more you claim the higher the taxes are going to be. Nothing wrong with expanding your property but you want to make sure you have the money for it and the time to make that money!
Now that you understand taxes, go make that money to keep the tax man away!
