The Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Ymir and Jolan Questline takes you all over, from the Ruins of Rhia, Bonny Village, Ruins of Dheo, and more. You meet Ymir and a Knight named Jolan. This guide covers where to find them and how to complete the Finger Ruins Puzzle.
Talk to Ymir In Elden Ring Questline
First, talk to Ymir in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. From outside the Cathedral, walk up the stairs. Go straight and open the gates halfway through the building. Ymir is seated on a throne at the very end. He gives you two items, a Hole-Laden Necklace and a Ruins Map. These are needed to ring the bells at the Finger Ruins.
Exploring The Finger Ruins of Rhia In Ymir and Jolan Questline
After this, go to the Finger Ruins of Rhia and sound the bell. The bell is a large oblong shape hanging in the middle of the ruins that looks like a finger. Approach it and interact with it.
Return to Ymir, who is at the same location as before, and talk to him. He gives you Beloved Stardust and another Ruins Map. Also talk to Knight Jolan, who is on the right side of the room, and exhaust all dialogue with her.
Using The “O Mother” Gesture In Shadow Of The Erdtree
Next, you need to collect the “O Mother” gesture from Bonny Village and use it at the Shadow Keep, Back Gate. Doing this will unlock the Scaduview region, where you can find the “O Mother” gesture and use it in the Shadow Keep
Finger Ruins of Dheo Bell Ringing
Once this is done, sound the bell in the Finger Ruins of Dheo.
Return to Ymir and Jolan in the Cathedral and exhaust all dialogue with them. Don’t forget to buy all of Ymir’s spells here because you won’t be able to after this point.
Fast travel outside of the Cathedral and walk back inside. Ymir is gone but you can interact with his throne. You find a secret button and the throne slides back, revealing a ladder.
Defeat Ymir and Jolan In Shadow Of The Erdtree Quest
Go down the ladder. There is a long winding path. As you follow it, the Swordhand of Night Anna will jump out and attack you. At the end of the path is another bell for you to ring. It teleports you to the boss, called Metyr, Mother of Fingers. Defeat her and return to Ymir’s throne.
Jolan attacks you, and you must defeat her. After this, Ymir appears on his throne and he attacks you too. You have to defeat him as well.
Once defeated, fast travel to a nearby waypoint and enter the Cathedral. Talk to Jolan on the right side of the room. Give her the Iris of Grace or Iris of Occultation.
If you give her the Iris of Grace then you get the Swordhand of Knight Jolan, an ashen spirit you can summon, as a reward. If you give her the Iris of Occultation, you get the Sword of Night, a katana melee weapon, as a reward.
