Gothic Remake Joining The Mercenaries – Where To Find Myxir

Gothic Remake Joining the Mercenaries is a Chapter 3 quest that requires you to assist Myxir with locating a magical source. Completing the quest allows you to join the mercenaries and unlock a new armor.

How to Start and Complete the Gothic Remake Joining the Mercenaries Quest

The Joining the Mercenaries quest unlocks in Chapter 3 after you complete the Minecrawler’s Nest and Orc Cemetery quests in Chapter 2. As soon as you begin Chapter 3, head to the New Camp and find Lee, the quest giver.

Lee asks you to assist Myxir, a mage who went to investigate a source of magic near the coast. Before heading to Myxir’s location, make sure to learn the diving skill from Homer. You can find Homer on the bridge in the New Camp.

How to Find Myxir

From the Old Camp, head east towards the sea. You will find Myxir close to the shipwreck on the map. Follow the path to reach Myxir’s location.

Interact with Myxir and escort him to the beach. Defeat the Fire Lizards and start the next part of the Gothic Remake Joining the Mercenaries quest. Myxir asks you to find the magic source underwater. He tells you to look for a weapon, a rune, or a tome.

How to Unlock the Underwater Chest and Find the Magic Source

From Myxir’s location, head into the water, and swim towards the ship. The diving spot is just before the ship’s sail.

Keep diving, heading towards the Siren’s Hair plants, and you will notice a chest.

The lockpicking combination is:

• Plate 2 – 1 position to the right.
• Plate 3 – 1 position to the left.
• Plate 2 – 1 position to the right.
• Plate 3 – 1 position to the left.
• Plate 2 – 1 position to the right.
• Plate 3 – 1 position to the left.
• Plate 2 – 1 position to the right.
• Plate 4 – 1 position to the right.
• Plate 1 – 1 position to the left.
• Plate 2 – 1 position to the right.
• Plate 4 – 1 position to the right.
• Plate 1 – 1 position to the left.
• Plate 2 – 1 position to the right.
• Plate 4 – 1 position to the right.
• Plate 1 – 1 position to the left.
• Plate 4 – 1 position to the right.
• Plate 1 – 1 position to the left.
• Plate 4 – 1 position to the right.
• Plate 1 – 1 position to the left.
• Plate 4 – 3 positions to the right.

Inside the chest you will find the book The Old Ways of the Druids. Return to Myxir and deliver the book to receive 300 XP. Before heading back to the New Camp to complete the Gothic Remake Joining the Mercenaries quest, make sure to check out the shipwreck on the beach. Lockpick the cabin door and collect the Recipe for the Seaforest Brew from the table and the Armor Amulet from the locked chest.
