Chapter 4- Moonlight Town

You will first meet The Atoned at the train station in Moonlight Town during Chapter 4. At this point, you will have the option to tell the truth or lie. If you tell the truth, The Atoned will appear and you will need to defeat her there and then. However, if you lie at this point, you will not meet The Atoned. Instead, you will have to wait until later on in Chapter 5 to face her.

The strategy on how to defeat The Atoned does not change depending on where you encounter her. Nevertheless, it’s still a very interesting dynamic and shows just how important your decisions are within Lies of P.

How to Defeat the Atoned in Lies of P

How to Defeat The Atoned

The strategy on how to defeat the Atoned revolves around her primary weakness. As a human, The Atoned is susceptible to fatal attacks from behind. Therefore, your focus should be on flanking her, and then hitting her with a heavy attack for huge bursts of damage.

The Atoned’s attacks are also quite slow, which you can take advantage of. After she initiates an attack, flank her and hit her in the back with a heavy or charged attack. Then, get out of range, wait for her to attack again, and repeat. This strategy is pretty similar to the fight with the Mad Donkey.

The only thing you need to worry about when fighting The Atoned is her fury attack. During this sequence, she will jump at you out of nowhere, and it can be very hard to predict. What’s more, if she hits you, she’ll poison you, inflicting the Decay status on your character.

To avoid this, watch out for any time the Atoned stands still. When she does this, it normally means she’s charging up for a fury attack. So, just run out of range, wait for her to attack, and then hit her with counters.

As long as you avoid her Fury attack, and focus on landing fatal backstabs, you should be able to defeat The Atoned first time. Her health pool isn’t particularly high either, so she’s one of the quickest bosses to defeat in Lies of P.

Rewards

Once you successfully learn how to defeat the Atoned, you will be rewarded with the following items:

  • Cable Railway Key
  • The Atoned’s Mask

Honestly, the rewards for defeating The Atoned aren’t amazing. But, if you want to progress through to St. Freangelico Cathedral, getting your hands on the Cable Railway Key is necessary. The Atoned’s Mask does also look pretty neat on your character!

Tips on How to Defeat the Atoned

The Atoned isn’t the toughest boss to defeat in Lies of P. However, because her attack patterns are so odd, it can be difficult to get a good grasp on how to defeat The Atoned. With that being said, here are a few tips that should help you out:

  • Use Fire and Electricity. Humans, such as the Atoned, are weak to fire and electricity. So, if you want to defeat the Atoned quickly, use a combination of these elements. Imbuing your weapon with fire, using the Electric Coil weapon, or even using consumables like throwing cells are all great options.
  • Speed is Key. The more you engage with The Atoned, the more likely you are to get hit with her poison. So, it’s really important to get this fight over as quickly as you can. Lay the damage on early and often with heavy attacks, and you’ll avoid The Atoned’s biggest strengths.
  • Heavy Weapons are King. For many bosses, light weapons are the best choice. However, because you need to defeat The Atoned quickly, light weapons simply don’t have a high enough DPS. Instead, opt for a heavier weapon such as a greatsword, which has more than enough firepower to kill The Atoned quickly.
