Hytale Game Modes allow players to experience the game in different ways. Whether you like to hunt monsters or let your base-building imagination run wild, the game has you covered.
Let’s explore what each mode has to offer!
Hytale Game Modes – Exploration, Creative, and Adventure
Hytale has three game modes:
- Exploration – a standard game mode featuring a bit of everything.
- Creative – a building-focused mode, allowing you to reshape the world.
- Adventure (Coming Soon) – a story-driven experience with RPG elements and dungeons.
Exploration Mode

Exploration mode provides an open-world setting in which you fight monsters, accumulate resources, and build a house. It’s a typical adventure experience combined with base-building options. Pick this mode if you’re new to the genre or want to get the hang of things before trying other Hytale Game Modes. When creating an Exploration mode world, you can customize the experience by changing settings such as toggling PvP on or off, dying penalty severity, fall damage, and day/night cycle speed. The world is randomly generated, meaning that you always get a new world to explore. However, you cannot alter the environment. You are free to wander around, battling foes and gathering resources. Enemies come in all shapes and sizes. Some pose little challenge, while others might give more trouble. Resources allow you to craft weapons, armors, and tools. Use them to become a better fighter and to develop your house.
Hytale Game Modes – Creative Mode

Creative mode allows you to customize the world around you. If you’d rather focus on home-building, this is the mode for you. There is no combat in this mode and your character cannot die. When starting a Creative mode world, you can customize it by selecting NPC appearance, time management, and environment details. Time management allows you to have a standard day/night cycle or no time at all. Creative stands out of the three Hytale Game Modes as the one offering the most freedom. You can even fly and use infinite resources to fuel your unique vision. Creative mode includes design tools that let you build impressive structures, alter the environment, and change how the world looks.
Adventure Mode

Adventure mode is not available in early access. However, upon full release this mode will be a traditional RPG experience, including story-driven progression and dungeons. This mode will have more challenging combat than Exploration mode and, most likely, less base-building options than Creative mode. You can tackle Adventure mode alone or with a group of friends.
