How to Start When You Wish Upon Some Balls

Play until you reach Chapter 3. At some point during the main mission, Captain Beef will interact with Majima and tell him about Shen, an old friend of his dad. It seems that Shen requires some assistance.

Majima has to collect seven golden balls for Shen. In exchange, Shen will grant him a wish. The substory begins automatically after your conversation with Beef. Majima receives a message on his phone with clues about the balls’ locations.

How to Find the Golden Balls and Unlock the Not Counting the Usual Ones Achievement/Trophy

You have to search several locations in Hawaii and Madlantis to track all seven Golden Balls. The NPCs and Noah will comment whenever you are nearing the location of a ball. You will need the Chain Hook to grab the items. You can visit the places in any order you want. Once you have all seven Golden Balls, you will unlock the Not Counting the Usual Ones achievement/trophy.

Where to Find the First Four Balls

Chinese Medicine Shop

Go to the western part of Honolulu and head to Pearl Avenue. Enter the Wan Shang Tong Herbal Medicine shop and check the wall behind the counter. The ball is on the poster.

Sushi Restaurant

Go to the northeastern part of Honolulu and head to Sakura Street. Find the Shinobi Sushi restaurant and look up to see the sign above the entrance. Notice the blue ninja and use the hook to retrieve the ball.

Seaside Avenue Pool

Go to the Seaside Avenue Pool in eastern Honolulu. You don’t have access to the pool, but you can shoot the hook through the window and collect the Golden Ball.

Pawn Shop Masked Doll

Go to the eastern part of Honolulu and visit the Treasure Select Pawn shop on Hula Avenue. Go inside and notice the mannequin wearing the mask. Grab its ball and head to the next location.

Where to Find the Last Three Balls

A lot of the last few remaining golden balls can be found in mini-games and Midlantis. Continue to find and collect them all to net both the substory quest and Not Counting the Usual Ones trophy achievement

To get this ball, you must have completed Snap Those Sickos! Again! substory. You need 3,333 Sicko Snap points to buy the item. Go to the Aloha Beach Trolley Stop to find Kuroki and buy the ball from him.

Freak On Top Of Dunghill

Go to Dunhill on the northeastern side of Madlantis. Take the stairs up to reach the area above the bar. Look up and you will see the ball on a man in front of a green panel next to the balcony with the air conditioning unit.

Sweaty Man Near The Coliseum

Go to the Pirate’s Coliseum on the eastern side of Madlantis. Walk right from the Coliseum and notice the man talking to the woman wearing red underwear. The item is on him. Use the chain to retrieve it.

How to Complete When You Wish Upon Some Balls and Unlock Crew Member Shen

After finding all seven balls, you will receive a message from Shen. Go meet him in southwestern Honolulu. He will grant you a wish. The reward for completing the substory depends on your wish. Shen becomes a crew member no matter what wish you make.
