Stalker 2 Heart of Chornobyl The Poppy Field is a side quest mission that sends you on a strange mission in an eerie location. It is a mission that is given to you by Mityay, who will mention a family heirloom. Let’s see what you must do to collect the quest item!
Stalker 2 Heart of Chornobyl The Poppy Field – How to Begin the Quest
The quest is unlocked in the town of Zalissya. You gain access to this settlement after finishing the introductory story mission. Go to the Zalissya and look for the inn. Go inside and look around for an NPC called Mityay. You will find him in the corner.
Open up the dialogue with Mityay and he will tell you about a family heirloom. Choose the “Get to the point” option to learn more about the artifact. The item in question is a religious icon. It is somewhere in the Poppy Fields, a dangerous location that kills those who stay in it for too long. Let Mityay finish the story and select the “I’ll find your icon” line to start the quest.

Take Mityay’s advice and prepare before going to the Poppy Field. The location drains your stamina, making you pass out after a while. Stack up on energy drinks before leaving the town. You can buy them in Zalissya. You can also loot them from the Poppy Field, but play it safe and secure some in advance.
Once you are ready, track the quest in the Journal and head to the location. Follow the blue icon, taking you northwest of Zalissya. The field is not that close, so keep walking until you see the many red flowers.
Before entering the field, notice the house on the right. Enter it and speak to the NPC inside. He will tell you he knows the location of the Root Cellar, where the icon is.
You now have a choice to make.
- Pay 2000 Coupons to learn where the Root Cellar is.
- Do a job for Pomor in exchange for the location of the cellar.
- Leave the house and find the location yourself.
Obviously, paying for the info is the easiest choice, but maybe you don’t want to spend your money. That leaves you with two options.
Do the Job for Pomor
The favor Pomor asks from you is to loot some bodies scattered in the fields. Luckily, their locations are available on your PDA. There are four bodies to loot.
- One corpse is under a tree to the right behind the derelict house.
- The second corpse is in the barn.
- The third and fourth bodies are in the house on the small hill.
Return to Pomor and he will add the location of the cellar to tour PDA. He also says he is willing to part with a unique weapon should you give the icon to him.
Find the Cellar on Your Own
To find the cellar, you will have to cross the field to reach its opposite side. Leave Pomor’s house and keep going straight until you reach a house. Don’t forget to consume energy drinks to stay awake. Enter the house and search it for more drinks. Look outside and notice a second house. Go to the right side of the second house. The entrance in the Root Cellar is a hole in the ground. You will reach it fairly easily if you walk in a straight line from an initial position between the two houses.
Retrieve the Icon
Once you reach the entrance, use the ladder to descend into the cellar.
Loot the corpse and collect the icon. Now, it is time to decide who will receive the icon: Pomor or Mityay.
Give the Icon to Pomor
The reward for bringing the icon to Pomor is the Unknown Stalker’s AR416 weapon, which you cannot use right away as you need a lot of money to repair it.
Give the Icon to Mityay
If you deliver the icon to the quest giver, you receive 1350 Coupons.

You also have a third choice. Give the icon to Pomor, receive the weapon, and then kill him, loot the icon, and take it to Mityay to get both rewards!
