Enter the Brookhaven Hospital and notice the Shotgun cabinet on the right. The weapon is missing, but you will find it later on. Check the drawer for Shotgun Shells. Acquire the area map. Search for some handgun ammo in the reception. The save point is in the office. The next task is to find the code for the lock.
Go in the hallway and head east. Break the window and enter Exam Room 3 to find the note with clues. Open the door to the next room for Maria. Loot this room for ammo and HP items.
The note says Nurses, Doctors, Trees. Go back to the lobby and notice the pictures on the walls. The corresponding numbers are 7, 2, and 4. Go back to the locker and input the 724 code. You will obtain the Basement Key.

Watch the cutscene with Laura and head to the basement. Get the area map. The next objective is to fix the elevator. Find some ammo in the Pump Room. The Generator is in the next room. It needs gas to work, so now you must find some gas.
How to Repair the Elevator
Go to the Boiler Room using the laundry basket. Defeat the Mannequins and collect the Empty Fuel Can. Go to the Laundry Room and use the basket to reach the Storage. Fill up the can and collect the Syringe and ammo. Go back to the Generator and use the gas to fill it. Turn it on using the switch. The elevator now works. Take the elevator to the second floor.

Leave Maria in room C5. Room C3 has a save point. You can now explore rooms C2, L2, L3, M1, M5, the Shower Room, and the Utility Room for collectibles, ammo, and HP drinks. Take your time exploring these rooms, as the resources will come in handy.
Where to Find the Shotgun
Make sure to visit the Women’s Locker Room and get the shotgun. This weapon is more powerful than the handgun, however, the shells come in short supply. It’s important to search every nook and cranny of Brookhaven for this precious ammo. The shotgun makes it easier to deal with the Bubblehead Nurses. These new enemies are tougher than the other foes you’ve encountered so far.
Before leaving the locker, find the Bent Needle. This is a key item. You need it to acquire one of the Brookhaven Hospital puzzle items.
