Dune Awakening takes place in Arrakis, a desert enviorment. As you know there are sandworms that roam the sands that can kill you but there is also something else that can kill you and it’s quicksand/drumsand.

How to Survive Quicksand in Dune Awakening
Before we touch on being able to detect quicksand, lets go into how to survive it in the first place if you end up encountering it, which you will. But better quicksand then a sandworm! They will swallow you whole.
- If your on your sandbike while your travelling in the desert and it starts to sink, don’t try to back out of it. What you want to do is exit the sand bike this will help you get out of quicksand fast before it drags you down into the sandy abyss! To get your sand bike back you can equip a vehicle backup tool.
- Another option is using a suspensor belt. This will literally help you just float over the areas of sand to easily get over them
- A shigawire claw can also be used. This is a wrist mounted Launcher which fires off a claw that happens to be attached to a cable of Shiga wire. Then you’ll launch in the direction of the cable!
These are the best ways to survive should you fall into quicksand. You also can try to detect it, which we will cover in the next section!
Detecting Quicksand
It won’t surprise you but the best way to handle these dangers is to avoid them entirely! Check your map before heading out into the open sands. You will be able to see the hazards marked on your map as giant red circles.
If you’re in the actual world and not looking at the map, pay special attention to the sand. The quicksand will have a different texture compared to the regular sand.
