Lockpicking in Gothic Remake is an extremely useful skill. It can help open locked chests and doors that you otherwise won’t have access to. All you need is a lockpick in your inventory, and the ability will be there. Of course, there are a few things to consider first.

How to Lockpick in Gothic Remake

When you go to lockpick a lock, a lockpicking puzzle pops up. Not all puzzles are going to be the same amount of difficulty, so some will be easier than others, which are bound to test your patience. It’s always advisable to carry more than one lockpick in your inventory.

The goal is to make sure each tumbler gets the pegs through the center hole. Consider saving right before you lockpick, so that if you run out of lockpicks or get caught, you can reload the game and try again.

Raising Your Lockpicking Skill

Luckily, lockpicking can be trained at Fingers in Old Camp. However, you can’t just waltz up to him and ask him to start training you. First, you need to get the Casting Shadows quest from Diego. If you then approach Fingers and mention Diego’s name, Fingers will give you a quest called A Ring for Fingers. Then you can ask him to teach you.

It’s a good idea to get the training because you get up to four mistakes before the lockpick breaks, the difficulty is reduced, and progress doesn’t reset after one of your lockpicks breaks.

Where to Buy Lockpicks

Remember, it’s best to have more than one lockpick in your inventory. They can be found in the world while exploring, but you can also buy them. In Old Camp, you can buy them from Mordrag or Dexter. It’s expensive to buy them, but easier than finding them in the game yourself.
