How to Unlock the Gothic Remake Climbing Skill
You can use the skill whenever you see the “Climb Wall” option. The Gothic Remake Climbing skill is not mandatory for story progression, however, there are a few side quests you can complete only if you have this skill. Climbing allows you to use shortcuts and reach otherwise inaccessible loot locations.
How to Find Theron and Learn How to Climb
Theron is the NPC who teaches the climbing skill. You will find him by the beach in the Swamp Camp. From the Swamp Camp, turn left and follow the path towards the temple. Leave the camp and go along the shoreline to find Theron sitting by the water.
Explore all the dialogue options to trigger the Aiming High quest. Theron will teach you the Gothic Remake Climbing skill in exchange for half a dozen Northern Dark rolls. Return to the Swamp Camp and head towards the alchemy lab to find Fortuno and buy the Northern Dark smoke rolls.
Don’t forget that Fortuno also gives you three free rolls per day. You can buy the six rolls or wait for two days to save money. Return to Theron and hand over the quest items. Select the “I’m ready” dialogue option and spend 5 LP to learn climbing.
Once you have unlocked the skill, practice your new ability on the nearby cliff. At the end of the Aiming High quest, Theron gives you back three rolls, reducing the skill unlock cost to three rolls.
Where to Use Climbing
Go to the left side of the Old Mine and use the Climb Wall option to reach the snowy area. Go behind the waterfall and loot the chest to obtain a Rain of Fire spell rune.
At the top of the Mountain Fortress tower, there’s a chest containing a Storm Fist rune.
After finding the Almanac book in the goblin cave, you can use a climbing shortcut to leave the cave. Climb the ledge in the area with the bonfire and then the wall.
