Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 – How To Increase Inventory Capacity (Carry Weight)

(KCD2) Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 carry weight is a game metric that determines how many items you can hold in Henry’s inventory without suffering penalties. Let’s see how you can carry more items and avoid encumbrance!

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Carry Weight Mechanics

Most items that go in your bags have an associated weight. From flowers to weapons, each item will take up a certain part of your total carry weight. As the game begins, you won’t have many items, but you will be surprised by how fast the inventory fills up. When the total weight of Henry’s carried items exceeds the carrying capacity, you become encumbered and suffer penalties. The game notifies you if you have the Overloaded buff.

When Henry carries more than the allowed capacity, he suffers these penalties:

  • Movement becomes slower.
  • Unable to sprint.
  • Unable to use fast travel.
  • Unable to mount a horse.
  • Attacks and dodges use more stamina.

What Affects Carrying Weight

Carry weight is based on your Strength stat. It is measured in pounds. You start the game with a base or default carry weight. Each point in Strength increases your carrying capacity by 10 pounds. As you level up this main attribute, you are able to hold more items without becoming encumbered.

Carry capacity can temporarily vary. For example, losing HP decreases your inventory capacity. Should this happen mid-fight, you become sluggish and unable to deliver attacks and defend yourself. As you can imagine, this is something you must avoid.

How to Increase Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Carry Weight

There are three ways to carry more items:

  • Level up Strength.
  • Unlock skills.
  • Use the horse inventory.

Strength Leveling

To increase your Strength stat, you must perform actions that rely on this stat. Practicing combat is the quickest way to do this. You can boost Strength leveling by equipping heavy armor and using heavy weapons. This may be challenging, especially in the beginning, but luckily you can practice with combat master Tomcat. He is close to Bozhena’s hut. Visit him and ask him to spar with you. If you manage to beat him, he will also teach you Master Strikes.

Walking while affected by the Overloaded buff also increases your Strength. You can take advantage of this while walking around in a settlement. The Survival category has a skill, Leg Day, that gives a bit of Strength XP when you pick up flowers. You can also temporarily boost Strength with potions, such as Artemisia.

Horse Inventory

After you get a horse – your own horse, not a stolen one – you can use its inventory to store items. Henry can buy a horse in Semine. You can access the horse’s saddlebags even if you are away from the horse. Open Henry’s inventory, select an item and transfer it to the saddle bags. Superior saddles will expand the horse’s inventory.
