The Puppet of the Future is also an optional boss, but the rewards for defeating him are worth the effort.

You have the option to defeat the Puppet of the Future inside the Venigini Puppet Factory within Chapter 3. You don’t have to defeat it, and you can progress through to chapter four without even realizing it exists.
However, should you decide to learn how to defeat the Puppet of the Future and eventually take it on, you will be rewarded nicely. When you defeat this boss, you will gain access to an entirely new part of the factory, which is full of collectibles and other goodies.

How to Defeat the Puppet of the Future
Defeating the Puppet of the Future is actually very simple, especially when compared to other bosses like the Scrapped Watchman.
The Puppet of the Future hits very hard. But, it’s also very slow. Its attacks are also telegraphed, meaning you can prepare for them in plenty of time.
Therefore, the best strategy is to wait for the Puppet to attack first, run out of the way, and then come back with a few hits until you can the boss preparing for another attack.
This boss has a few main attacks, notably a hand slam, a spinning attack, and a foot stomp. You can actually negate the first two moves by simply staying close to one of its legs. This will force the Puppet of the Futrure to only initiate foot stomps, which you can see coming from miles away.
This fight is going to take you a pretty long time because the Puppet of the Future has a gigantic health pool. However, it doesn’t have a second stage, so the strategy on how to defeat the Puppet of the Future doesn’t change. Just hit, move, and repeat. Although, as you keep chipping at the health pool, the Puppet of the Future will attack more frequently. So, just play it a little safer once you get its health pool below 50%.
You can summon a specter to make this fight a little easier. However, because the Puppet of the Future is one of the easiest bosses in the game, this isn’t recommend. Instead, you should save your Star Fragments for tougher fights.
Rewards
After you defeat the Puppet of the Future, you will receive the following rewards:
- One Radiant Ergo Chunk.
- One Quartz.
This may seem pretty underwhelming at first. However, the best loot comes from the area you unlock after defeating the boss.
The best loot in this area includes:
- One Hidden Moonstone.
- One Dim Ergo Fragment.
- One Booster Glaive.
- One Radiant Ergo Fragment.
This loot, particularly the Booster Galive, makes learning how to defeat the Puppet of the Future worth all of the effort.
Tips on How to Defeat the Puppet of the Future
Although the Puppet of the Future is pretty easy to defeat, there are a few traps that you can fall into quite easily which will make this fight a little harder. With that being said, here are a few tips on how to defeat the Puppet of the Future:
- Invest in Vitality. Although your strategy should be to hit and not get hit, everyone can make mistakes sometimes. However, if you haven’t invested in your vitality stat, you’ll likely be taken out with one hit. So, make sure to devote some points to your vitality. Or, at the very least, wear some high-defense gear.
- Use the Fulminis Legion Arm. The Fulminis Legion Arm can take this fight from a grindy marathon to a relatively easy sprint, thanks to its sheer damage output. You can obtain this arm after defeating the Scrapped Watchman.
- Have Patience. It’s very easy to become complacent as you take on the Puppet of the Future because its moves are so predictable. However, one mistake can easily result in you losing the fight. So, play it safe, get a few hits in, and then retreat. The fight will take you longer this way, but it’s much less risky.
